  • 12/5 UConn Symphony and Choirs to Present Beethoven 9th

This Thursday, December 5 at 8:00pm, the UConn Department of Music will present an amazing musical event. On this night, the forces of the UConn Symphony Orchestra, UConn Concert Choir and Festival Chorus, with special guests E. O. Smith Chamber Singers and Farmington High School Chamber Singers as well as faculty soloists, will combine to present one of the grandest musical works ever written. Beethoven’s 9th Symphony is his crowing glory and will come alive under the direction of Maestro Harvey Felder. Soloists include Constance Rock – soprano, Meredith Ziegler – alto, and Anthony Leathem – bass. UConn alumnus Albert Lee, '98 professor of voice at the University of Nevada, will be the tenor soloist. The combined forces will also present Schubert’s Magnificat and Vaughan Williams’ Antiphon under the direction of Dr. Jamie Spillane. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear over 250 musicians performing one of the year’s most exciting musical offerings. UConn music professor Glenn Stanley will present a pre-concert lecture on the music at 7:15pm. Tickets are available from the Jorgensen Box Office and from this link:    http://jorgensen.uconn.edu/events/view.php?id=386.
