    "VDOT" Study

    Volunteers Needed

Drs. Riddhi Doshi and Robert Aseltine Jr. from UConn Health’s Center for Population Health, in collaboration with Dr. Jayesh Kamath, of UConn Health’s Department of Psychiatry, are conducting a research study called “Video Directly Observed Therapy (VDOT) to Improve Medication Adherence among Depression Patients”.

This study tests whether the use of a smartphone application called SureAdhere improves how regularly patients take their depression medication and whether it helps improve depression symptoms.

Eligible participants will have a 50-50 chance of being assigned to the study group, which will be required to video record their daily depression medication compliance using the SureAdhere app.

Study participation will last approximately 3 months and involves the completion of three brief questionnaires. This study does not involve any laboratory tests.

Eligibility: English speaking, 18 years of age or older, diagnosis of depression, currently prescribed oral antidepressant medication, and have a mobile phone with active phone plan capable of receiving text messages.

Participants will receive $100.00 for completing the study.
