Career, Internship & Fellowship

  • 11/5 A Writing Life Panel Discussion on MFAs & Careers

Held in the Stern Lounge (Austin 217) from 3:30-5:00 pm on Tuesday, November 5, this conversation is meant to benefit undergraduates (and others) who are thinking about applying to MFA programs and/or would like to keep creative writing a central part of their lives after college. We will hear from several panelists who lead a wide variety of "writing lives", many of whom have MFAs. We'll speak to publishing, fellowships and residencies, pros and cons of pursuing advanced degrees such as MFAs and PhDs, careers in publishing and teaching, pursuing creative writing while working in other fields, and just generally living a life that nurtures our art. Panelists will share some of their experiences and wisdom and there will be plenty of time for questions. Light refreshments will be provided.
