Bridging the Gap: Empowering the Voices of Black Women in University Classrooms

This research will be taking a look at the experiences black women face participating in college level classroom discussions. Several focus group interview sessions will be held, in order to explore the different reasons as to what either stifles or encourages black women participating in their higher education classroom discussions. This pilot research project hopes to provide university stakeholders with information to better support their marginalized students.

Participants will be asked to participate in a focus group interview, answering questions regarding their experiences participating in higher education classroom discussions.

    Eligibility Criteria Includes:

    • Must Self-Identify as a Black Woman
    • Must be a junior or senior enrolled at the University of Connecticut
    • Must be between the ages of 20-22
