  • 11/1 Sisters In STEM Conference

    The UConn Engineering Diversity and Outreach center will be hosting the first Sisters in STEM conference! It is a one day conference, November 1st from 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM, specifically for Black, Latina, and Indigenous young women in 10th grade. The day will consist of STEM activities, graduate lab tours, and self-development workshops. Laboratory tours are led by UConn graduate students who will present their current research. STEM workshops, led by undergraduate volunteers, will consist of fun activities to introduce science, technology, engineering, and math topics. The self-development workshops, led by undergraduate volunteers and UConn Alumni, focus on various topics such as: confidence building, overcoming imposer syndrome, upliftment and advocating for oneself.

     

    In order to make this happen, we need your help! Volunteers can sign up for different time blocks on this Sisters in STEM Sign Up. There will be a training session, so that volunteers can lead a workshop or activity on the day of. Please sign-up and share this opportunity with your membership. Volunteers also receive a free T-shirt! 

     

    This the opportunity to introduce students representative role-models, show them the allure of STEM, and have a positive impact in their journey as a woman of color.
