  • Reminder of Support on 9/11

Today reminds us of the impact the 9/11 tragedy has had upon all of us.  As we reflect on what happened on that day, we should embrace the myriad of identities that will always be meaningful to our community.  This is a time to recommit to each other, demonstrating care and understanding while reaching out to ask for the help when needed.  Caring for oneself during these moments is important and this message is a reminder that as a campus community there are many people available to offer support and guidance.

The Dean of Students Office located on the 2nd floor of Wilbur Cross is available to assist students with any issues and/or concerns that impact student life. Staff in the Dean of Students Office meet with students on a walk-in basis, Monday through Friday from 1:00pm-4:00pm or by appointment. To make an appointment, contact the office at 860-486-3426.

Student Health & Wellness - Mental Health Services is available to provide support to the students.  Mental Health Services is located on the 4th floor of Arjona and their office hours are from 8:30am - 4:30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from 10:30am-4:30pm on Wednesdays.  Students identified as needing support should be encouraged to either walk in during office hours or call 860-486-4705 to make an appointment. Visit the Student Health & Wellness – Mental Health Services website for information about specific services offered as well as resource materials.

Students may find comfort connecting with a faith based organization. The Area Association of Religious Communities (AARC) is an organization of the faith communities at UConn and in the Mansfield community who are committed to serving the spiritual life of the students, faculty and staff of the University of Connecticut at Storrs.

This message is to remind the community of the resources that are available and to encourage students and community members to reach out as needed.
