Would you like to continue playing your instrument beyond high school? UConn Jazz Ensemble/combo placement auditions are open for the following instruments:
saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar, bassand drums.
Students majoring in fields outside of music are welcome.
Jazz ensemble/combo placement auditions will take place from Aug. 26 - 28th, 2019 in the jazz room on the basement practice room floor of the music building, at the times indicated on the following online sign-up sheet. The 10-minute auditions will consist of sight reading, performing a piece of your choosing (in any style), and improvising on a 12-bar blues or jazz standard. Please be courteous, and select the earliest day and time at which you are available.
Enrollment permission numbers will be issued to selected students following the audition process. The two big bands (Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band) will rehearse on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 – 4 p.m. Combo meeting times will be determined after the formation of rosters.
