  • Join UConn Extension for Bug Week

UConn Extension is hosting the 4th Annual Bug Week from July 21st - 27th. Plan to attend to see what's buzzing! There will be educational programs, interactive events, and family-oriented activities designed to illustrate how bugs can benefit humans, plants and animals.

Bugs are the unsung heroes of our ecosystem. They pollinate our crops and gardens, prey on pest insects, and aerate soils by breaking up decaying material to recycle nutrients. Bugs also play a key role in manufacturing silk, red dye, shellac, wax and honey.

During Bug Week you'll also learn about problem bugs such as the Emerald Ash Borer and Brown Marmorated Stink Bug, that are causing concern in Connecticut.

Programs are being hosted throughout the week, and continue until July 31st. There is also a photo contest open to youth and adults. For more information visit https://bugs.uconn.edu/.
