  • Attn Juniors - Rhodes Scholar Deadline Approaching

The Office of National Scholarships & Fellowships (ONSF) is committed to helping current undergraduates and recent alumni develop their scholarly, intellectual, and personal interests by promoting relevant, nationally-competitive scholarships and fellowships.  The office is always looking for students who have a sense of purpose, who can articulate what they aim to accomplish with their lives, and who have begun to take the first steps necessary to reach those goals.

Right now, we are seeking outstanding students who might be interested in pursuing graduate study in the UK or Ireland as Rhodes, Marshall, Mitchell, or Gates-Cambridge Scholars.

Grades are certainly important; in fact, most nationally-competitive scholarships and fellowships require students to have at least a 3.7 GPA to be eligible.  But grades are NOT the foremost consideration.  It is far more important that students align with a particular fellowship’s mission and are able to demonstrate passion and commitment to the things about which they care the most.  That’s where we come in.  We can help you put the pieces of this puzzle together and figure out whether one of these scholarships is the right opportunity for you.

If you think you might want to learn more about these prestigious, nationally-competitive scholarship opportunities, we encourage you to visit our website at http://onsf.uconn.edu.  To read about the internal campus nomination process specific to the Rhodes, Marshall, and Mitchell Scholarships, click here.  You can either complete the Statement of Interest survey (in which case we'll contact you) or you can Email ONSF Director Vin Moscardelli (vin.moscardelli@uconn.edu) to set up a time to meet before you leave town.

Deadline:  The staff at ONSF are always happy to meet high-achieving students, but UConn nominates current students for the Rhodes, Marshall, and Mitchell Scholarships around the beginning of the fall semester of their senior year.  Internal applications are due in August, and final applications are due to the foundations on or around October 1.  So if you're a Class of 2019 or Class of 2020 student who thinks you might be interested in learning more about these opportunities, please reach out as soon as possible.  The Rhodes-Marshall-Mitchell Statement of Interest form may be found on the website and is due to ONSF on Friday, May 31.
