Latinx Cultural Groups: Exclusion on College Applications & Realistic Scholarship Availabilities
For our Univ 1810 course, under La Comunidad Intelectual Learning Community we are conducting a survey on latinx students' experience with the availability of scholarships and classification of nationality based on ethnicity.
We want to explore more how colleges, more specifically, the University of Connecticut, includes only Puerto Ricans and Mexicans as nationality options during the application process. Our group wants to understand UConn and other universities’ reasoning on why they make some decisions toward the Latinx community. Also, it is believed that minority groups have easier access to scholarships because of their race/ethnicity.
