  • Have an outstanding RA? Nominate Them for an Award

    The RA Training and Development Committee on behalf of the Department of Residential Life would like to recognize RAs, Assistant Residence Hall Directors, and Residence Hall Directors on our team who have excelled in their role during the 2018-2019 year. All members of the campus community are encouraged to celebrate hardworking colleagues by submitting a nomination form for any of the awards below by using this link. Please submit all nominations by 11:59pm on Friday, April 5th. If you would like to submit multiple nominations, please submit the form multiple times.  Nominations should be thorough and include examples which best demonstrate the individual’s efforts. Award winners will be honored at the RA Awards Reception at the end of April.

    Please find the awards and their descriptions below. This information is also available directly on the nomination form for your convenience: 

    1. JACQUELINE R. SEIDE OUTSTANDING RA OF THE YEAR 
      Nominate an RA in their second year of the RA position or beyond (a staff member who began prior to Fall 2018) who has shown demonstrated commitment to their residents and an ability to build relationships in their community. Nominees should also have a demonstrated understanding of (and participation in) fostering staff team spirit, and support for the RLM, while also balancing academic success and the highest commitment to the RA position.

    2. SENIOR RESIDENT ASSISTANT (SRA) OF THE YEAR
      SRA of the Year nominees should serve as a positive role model for their staff, represent the Department with pride, and consistently support their colleagues, while remaining knowledgeable about the position and the RLM.

    3. NEW RA OF THE YEAR
      Nominate a new RA (a staff member who began the position in Fall 2018 or Spring 2019) who has excelled in their first year of the position. Nominees should show commitment to the position, dedication to their residents, and staff team spirit.

    4. SUPERVISOR OF THE YEAR
      Nominate a residence hall director or assistant residence hall director who consistently supports their RAs, fosters a sense of team pride, and makes the position meaningful for their staff members.

    5. CREATIVE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE RLM – Traditional Educational Plan
      Nominate an RA who demonstrates knowledge of the educational priority statement and understands the concept of the Residential Learning Model. This RA should consistently implement RLM facilitation guides with knowledge and competence, in a manner that is tailored to the needs of their community.  This nominee’s campus area must follow the Traditional RLM Educational Plan.

    6. CREATIVE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE RLM – Suites & Apartments Educational Plan
      Nominate an RA who demonstrates knowledge of the educational priority statement and understands the concept of the Residential Learning Model. This RA should consistently implement RLM facilitation guides with knowledge and competence, in a manner that is tailored to the needs of their community.  This nominee’s campus area must follow the Suites/Apartments RLM Educational Plan.

    7. LEARNING COMMUNITY/HONORS/SPECIAL INTEREST RA OF THE YEAR
      Nominate an RA from any learning community, special interest area, or Honors, who has gone above and beyond the expectations set out for them in their community. Nominees should help foster learning outside of the classroom and engagement.

    8. UNSUNG HERO
      Nominate a new RA, returning RA, or SRA who has made a substantive, yet unrecognized, contribution to the staff team. This person consistently steps up to help their team out and provides support without looking for reward or recognition.
