  • 12/12 Spring 2019 Doctoral Student Travel Funding

The Graduate School is pleased to offer travel funding support to a limited number of doctoral students actively participating in presenting his/her research at national or international meetings/conferences.  The first application cycle for academic year 2018-2019 was designated for fall 2018 travel and is now closed.  The second application cycle, reserved for spring 2019, will open on December 12, 2018. Funds are limited and are not guaranteed.  Funding is dispersed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Students who are eligible may apply for a one-time only maximum amount of $750 in travel reimbursement funds.  Application for travel funding must be sought and granted before any travel commences.  A DST award will not be granted retroactively under any circumstances.  Applications for retroactive trips will not be processed.

Any surplus funds not used for that travel occurrence will not be carried forward for future use.  The student is given six weeks after traveling to submit their receipts to their program financial coordinator for reimbursement.  No reimbursement is available once a student has completed their degree.

Once the application is complete and signed by the student, student's advisor and department head (or his/her designee) the application should be submitted to The Graduate School at the Whetten Graduate Center, second floor.  The application will then be reviewed for eligibility and a decision will be e-mailed to the student as well as the student's graduate program financial coordinator.

Students are responsible for knowing any and all travel advisories and restrictions and should plan accordingly.  Reimbursements for travel may be affected by restrictions.  Please check with the travel office at http://travel.uconn.edu/.  Students should familiarize themselves with alerts and warnings issued by the U.S. Department of State at https://travel.state.gov/travel/en.html/. Currently there is a travel ban in place to Mississippi and North Carolina.  No travel awards will be approved for travel to these states.
