    Leadership and Organizational Development in the Department of Student Activities at the University of Connecticut is seeking a graduate assistant for the Spring 2019 semester. The Graduate Assistant will participate in the dynamic development and implementation of exceptional services and programs associated with student leadership development programs in the office.
    Brief Description:
    This Graduate Assistant experience will include direct and indirect responsibilities and active involvement in the development, delivery, and support of programs and services associated with student organization leaders/advisor training, several of the Department’s leadership programs, and management, supervision, and mentoring of student facility leaders.


    General Responsibilities
    • Assist in the development and support of an advisory network and program in support of student leaders.
    • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate the work of 3 to 5 student facility monitors engaged in supporting various student leadership experiences through the preparation, staffing, and maintenance of a campus facility.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of annual fundraising campaigns in support of various programs – including but not limited to the University’s Spirit, Pride, Tradition program, the Leadership Legacy Experience and more.
    • Assist in developing an effective working relationship with staff within the department and across campus engaged in providing support to student leaders.
    • Develop and implement various assessment tools as needed.
    • Assist in developing and maintaining organization development, leadership, and other resource materials
    • Participate in and support Office and Department programs as necessary
    • Serve on various department committees and provide information and support to other committees as necessary.
    • Other duties as needed in support of area programs


    Position Requirements
    • Acceptance to an appropriate graduate program at the University of Connecticut.
    • Demonstrated interest/ability to provide effective instruction/training;
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; public speaking experience.
    • Knowledge and/or demonstrated interest in student development and leadership education.
    • Supervisory and/or advisory experience;
    • Organization, creativity, self-motivation, a sense of humor, initiative, multi-tasking skills, and a can-do attitude.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience working in a college environment;
    • Experience in supervising college students;
    • Experience with fundraising campaigns
    • Experience with event planning and event management;
    • Strong ability to work effectively on MS Excel, Access and Publisher.


    Commitment:
    • 20 hours per week; schedule will vary based on student’s availability and programmatic needs.
    • Weekend and evening hours are required.
