Student Organization Events & Information

  • Join Undergraduate Student Government

Are you are interested in being a student leader and advocate for students, jumpstarting initiatives, making lifelong friends, and building your professional development skills? Then Undergraduate Student Government is the organization for you.

The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) serves as the official voice of the student body, and works directly with students and administration to advocate on the behalf of students. From parking, to dining, to sustainability, we work to create legislation, jumpstart initatives, and help build a stronger UConn.

Currently, USG elections are right around the corner. If you are interested in running for a Senate seat, you can pick up election packets in the USG Office on the 2nd Floor of the Union.

You can also join one of our 4 committees: Student Services, External Affairs, Student Development, and Academic Affairs. Some of the initatives accomplished in these committees are as follows:

    • Providing free New York Times subscriptions to all students
    • Providing free chlorine-free menstrual products on campus
    • Funding buses to DACA clinics
    • Increasing the amount of halal mean on campus (by 2X!)
    • Coordinating the #SaveUConn Rally
    • Stopping the sale of single-use plastic water bottles in several cafes
    • Meeting with important admin regularly (Such as President Herbst!)
    • Expanding library hours to 24 hours in Bookworms
    • Hosting a forum and networking event with local legislators
    • Among MANY other things

Stop by the USG office to learn more about the organization and how you can get involved. We would love to help you!
