COLUM McCANN, Gerson Irish Reader 2018

    April 10, 7:00pm, Alumni Center

New York-resident Colum McCann, one of Ireland’s most internationally prominent contemporary fiction writers, will deliver the 20th-anniversary Gerson Irish Reading, the culmination of a 2-day Narrative 4 event in which he will participate.

The UConn Department of English is honored to host the return of Mr. McCann, the year 2000 Gerson Reader, to celebrate this milestone in the history of the series.

Mr. McCann is Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing in the Master of Fine Arts program at Hunter College, New York. He has written six novels, and his work has been published in 35 languages. McCann won the National Book Award in 2009 for Let the Great World Spin, and has also received the Pushcart Prize, the Rooney Prize, and the Irish Novel of the Year Award.

The evening’s program is sponsored by the Gerson Family Fund and made possible by the generous assistance of the English Department.
