  • A 10-minute Survey: Communication and Motivation

If you are a university student (undergraduate or graduate), please join our survey by completing our Qualtrics questionnaire here: https://uconn.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_d3UDYqaJ6Kc3lGZ

It will help UConn’s educational researchers investigate the relationship between university instructors’ communication and their students’ motivation, which will inform the development of new instructional strategies that will enhance university students’ learning.

Your participation in this study will require the completion of this questionnaire that contains 33 multiple-choice questions and 7 demographic questions. This process should take approximately 10 minutes. You can complete it in any place you feel comfortable with, as long as there is access to the internet. Your participation will be anonymous. There is no IP-tracking or audio-/video-taping involved. Participants will not be named or identified in any efforts for the publication of the findings.

You may not directly benefit from this research; however, we hope that your participation in the study may let you feel a benefit from helping researchers investigate a pressing issue in education. There are no costs and you will not be paid to be in this study. We believe there are no known risks associated with this research study; a possible inconvenience may be the time it takes to complete the study.

We will do our best to protect the confidentiality of the information we gather from you, but we cannot guarantee 100% confidentiality. You should also know that the UConn Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Research Compliance Services may inspect study records as part of its auditing program, but these reviews will only focus on the researchers and not on your responses or involvement.  The IRB is a group of people who review research studies to protect the rights and welfare of research participants.

You do not have to be in this study if you do not want to. If you agree to be in the study, but later change your mind, you may drop out at any time. There are no penalties or consequences of any kind if you decide that you do not want to participate. You may refuse to answer any questions that you do not want to answer and still remain in the study.

Take as long as you like before you make a decision. We will be happy to answer any question you have about this study.
