  • New Gen Ed Course this Fall: Al-Andalus

    Discover the fascinating culture of Muslim Spain through music, film, poetry and scientific texts.

    Prof. Nicola Carpentieri (Dept. of Literatures, Cultures and Languages) will be offering the following new GEN ED course in the Fall:

    ARAB 3751 - Al-Andalus: Music, Poetry and Science in Muslim Spain

    The course fulfills the requirements for Content Area 1 (Arts and Humanities) and 4 (Diversity and Multiculturalism) as well as General Education Area C (History).

    Through films, readings and a study of material culture, we will explore the musical heritage of Spain and North Africa and its intertwinement with Arabic poetry and literature, as well as medical texts, art and architecture and philosophy.
