  • 3/19 Graduate Students Learn to Listen Through Improv

Effective communication requires both good speaking and listening skills. Improv training helps you to listen, be attentive to your audience, and think on your feet. An improvisation workshop to help graduate students from all areas of study will be held to develop listening skills necessary for effective communication in professions and job interviews. This workshop will provide attendees with some basic communication tools and is not meant to make participants comedians or actors. Participants will not get on a stage to perform. Group and partner activities will build skills and confidence as a listener.

The workshop will be held for 4 weeks on Monday evenings, March 19 to April 9 from 6-9 pm in Oak Hall Room 106. The instructor will be an experienced improv performer from Hartford's SeaTea improv company. A $5 cash fee is due to Dr. Kenneth Noll at the first session. If you attend at least 3 of the sessions, your $5 will be refunded. The class size is limited to 14, so register soon to get your spot. A waiting list will be kept in case of cancelations. To register contact Dr. Noll at kenneth.noll@uconn.edu and let him know which graduate program you are in.
