Important University-Wide Announcements

  • Michael Mundrane: VP/CIO for UConn & UConn Health

Sent on behalf of President Herbst

    ***

    Dear Colleagues,

With the goal of bringing a unified approach to enterprise information technology at the university, and in recognition of his record of accomplishment, I have gradually expanded Vice Provost and Chief Information Officer Michael Mundrane’s scope of authority to include both academic and administrative computing university-wide, including at the Storrs and regional campuses, the Law School, and UConn Health.

In recognition of this considerably expanded portfolio and to clarify his level of authority, I am promoting Michael to Vice President and CIO.  He will be a member of my cabinet and will report jointly to the Provost/Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Executive Vice President for Administration/Chief Financial Officer.

Michael arrived at UConn from Berkeley in September of 2013.  As CIO, he has been instrumental in improving IT operations at UConn even in the face of resource constraints. He has successfully improved the usefulness and reliability of core systems while at the same time greatly strengthening central support for key research infrastructure, such as high performance computing.  He has brought greater transparency and responsiveness to the operations of UITS and has built trust with the entire user community.

I am sure that Michael will continue to provide the intellectual leadership that will guide UConn’s IT strategy into the future.

Please join me in congratulating him.

    Sincerely,

    Susan Herbst
