Sent on Behalf of the UConn Division of Public Safety and the Office of University Communications
To the UConn Storrs community:
The University of Connecticut will test its outdoor emergency notification siren at the Depot Campus on Thursday between 2 and 3 p.m.
Faculty and staff, students, and visitors to offices and departments on that campus should be aware that the siren’s activation does not indicate an actual emergency. The test is part of a wider series of reviews that the University regularly conducts of its many notification methods.
In an actual emergency, information would be available and updated through the UConnALERT website at www.alert.uconn.edu.
We encourage you to visit this site to register for cell phone text alerts, update your information on that notification system, and view other items related to emergency procedures and general campus safety.
As always, thank you for your cooperation during the siren test and your support of public safety initiatives at UConn.
Hans Rhynhart
UConn Chief of Police and Interim Director of Public Safety
Tysen Kendig
Vice President for Communications
