  • 4/20 Mindfulness in the Workplace Orientation Sessions

Three orientation/info sessions about the Mindfulness in the Workplace course will be hosted by the UConn Counseling and Mental Health Services at Arjona, Room 403. Attendance at one of these Orientations is necessary to register for the Mindfulness course. The sessions will be held on Thursday, April 20th, at 12 Noon; Thursday, April 27th, at 12 Noon; and Thursday, May 4th, at 12 Noon. The course will begin at Noon on Thursday, May 11th.

Participants in this six-session Mindfulness lunch-hour course will gain a first-hand introduction to mindfulness practices involving breathing, gentle body movements, and methods for incorporating mindfulness practices into their everyday life and work. Published research has shown that mindfulness training is highly effective when combined with conventional medical treatment for many disorders. Thousands of people report that the course helped to reduce symptoms such as chronic pain, headache, insomnia, fatigue, anxiety, over-eating, and negative thinking. Participants also report improvement in relationships, vitality, and a greater sense of well-being.
