  • Connecticut Writing Project Receives Two Grants

The Connecticut Writing Project-Storrs has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the US Department of Education's Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) funds to run Invitational Leadership Institutes in the summers of 2017 and 2018. The purpose of this grant is to support Invitational Leadership Institutes that invest in 12 or more K-university teacher-leaders who are from diverse educational settings, including high-need schools. The goal of this funding is to equip teachers to lead work at the site, in their schools and districts, and as active participants in an educational landscape of new standards and technological innovation.

The Connecticut Writing Project-Storrs has also been selected to receive a $20,000 grant from the US Department of Education's Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) funds for the College Ready Writers Program (CRWP) to run 18 months of Professional Development in a High-Need Middle or High School. This grant provides funding for 45 hours of intensive professional development in a high-need school during the 2017-18 school year. This grant program continues the National Writing Project's commitment to equity and social justice by supporting teachers and students in economically poor communities.  The CWP's partner school for this grant will be Manchester High.
