  • 3/27 Peer Observation&Service Learning Teaching Talks

CETL is offering two new teaching talks on Monday:

Service Learning:  Would you like to include a service learning component in your course but have difficulty envisioning what that would entail?  Join us to discuss the various steps associated with planning a service learning course (e.g., establishing collaborative partnerships, integrating the course content and service, and assigning critical reflection and analysis).  If so please participate in a CETL teaching talk on “Planning a Service Learning Course,” Monday, March 27th, 10:00 – 11:15 a.m. in ROWE 319.  Please register for the sevice learning session here.

Peer Observation:  You are invited to participate in a CETL teaching talk on “Peer Observation of Classes in Action,” Monday, March 27th, 1:30 – 2:45 p.m. in ROWE 319.  Every semester, SETs provide us with student evaluations of our teaching, but rarely do we have the opportunity to receive constructive feedback in a non-evaluative format.  At this session, CETL staff will introduce you to strategies for improving your teaching and building community through a process of collaborative classroom observations and shared reflection.  Please register for the peer observation session here.

These are two of a series of informal discussions aimed at sharing teaching concerns and discussing techniques and strategies with colleagues and CETL staff.  All UConn instructors—graduate students, TAs, and APIRs, as well as adjunct, tenure-track and tenured faculty—are encouraged to attend.
