I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Sandra Bushmich, Professor in the Department of Pathobiology and Veterinary Science, as the CAHNR Associate Dean for Academic Programs. Dr. Bushmich is well known for her commitment to undergraduate education and is the recipient of UConn’s Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award (2006), and of the Kinsman (1992) and UCAHNRAA (1994) teaching awards. She has taught in the Ratcliffe Hicks School of Agriculture, mentored many graduate TAs in teaching, taught one of the original first-year experience courses, and served as faculty advisor to the Pre-Vet Club. Dr. Bushmich has significant supervisory experience and provided organizational leadership in achieving national accreditation for the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory. A long-standing member of the CAHNR Diversity Committee and the Senate Diversity Committee, she has demonstrated direct involvement with international activities that support research, extension and teaching.
