In Memoriam

  • Passing of UConn Law Student, William McLaughlin

It is with great sadness that I must share the news of the death of our second-year UConn Law student and friend, William McLaughlin. William passed away unexpectedly on February 11, 2017.

William was from North Stonington, where his parents and family still live. He attended Eastern Connecticut State University, where he was an honor student and active in student government. He had hopes and plans to work in public service and looked to law school as his key step to a fulfilling career.

Information about funeral services is available at http://www.auroramccarthyfuneralhome.com/notices/William-McLaughlin.

The UConn Law School Student Services Office, located on the 2nd floor of the Law Library in the One Stop Student Center, is available to assist students struggling with the loss of their classmate. You may make an appointment by calling Karen DeMeola, Assistant Dean of Enrollment and Students, at 860-570-5042, or Jennifer Cerny, Director of Student Services, at 860-570-5244 or 203-232-3718. You may also stop in during regular business hours.

This is a difficult time for UConn and for the McLaughlin family. A team of professionals from throughout the University continues to meet and mobilize resources to help our students, employees and others in whatever ways may be necessary.

Dean DeMeola will be working with interested students in planning a UConn Law campus memorial service for William.  Planning will begin after the funeral.

Condolences to the McLaughlin family can be sent to the UConn Law School Student Services Office, Thomas J. Meskill Law Library, 39 Elizabeth St, 2nd floor, Hartford, CT 06105.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to the McLaughlin family and friends during this time of loss.

    Sincerely,

Timothy Fisher, Dean and Professor of Law
