  • 12/9 Teaching Talk for New Teachers

Are you new to teaching? Will you be teaching as an instructor of record for the first time during the spring semester? If so, you are invited to participate in a CETL teaching talk on “Teaching for the First Time.” The talk takes place on Friday, December 9th, 10:00 – 11:15 a.m., in ROWE 319. This is one of a series of informal discussions aimed at sharing teaching concerns and discussing techniques and strategies with colleagues, experts, and CETL staff.

At this session, participants will discuss issues associated with first-time teaching, including

    • Developing a new course or adapting someone else’s course
    • Designing lectures and classroom activities
    • Planning, organizing and scheduling class time
    • Dealing with first-day anxiety

All UConn instructors—graduate students, post-docs, visiting instructors, TAs, and APIRs, as well as adjunct and tenure-track faculty—are encouraged to attend.

Please email Stacey Valliere at CETL@uconn.edu (860-486-2686) to register.

Please also feel free to contact Suzanne LaFleur if you have questions, would like more information, or can’t make this session but are interested in attending another session on this topic. Individual or small group teaching consultations are always available.
