You are invited to participate in a CETL teaching talk on “Conducting Classroom Discussions.” The talk takes place on Monday, November 7th, 12:30 - 1:45 in ROWE 319. This is one of a series of informal discussions aimed at sharing teaching concerns and discussing techniques and strategies with colleagues, experts, and CETL staff.
At this session, participants will discuss topics like
- What is the value of classroom discussions?
- What are the attributes of an effective class discussion?
- How can instructors encourage students to speak?
- Can we fairly assess students’ contributions to class discussions?
- Can discussion work in a STEM classroom?
All UConn instructors—graduate students, TAs, and APIRs, as well as adjunct, tenure-track and tenured faculty—are encouraged to attend.
