  • 10/15 Museum Activity: Archaeology Field Workshop

Due to last weekend's rain, the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History's “Archaeology Field Workshop – Learning The Basics” will now take place on October 15, 9 am to 11:30 am. Becasue of this change we had a few openings become avalable. The activity will be led by Mandy Ranslow, President of the Friends of the Office of State Archaeology (FOSA) and profestional archaeologist.

What happens at an archaeological dig? Learn about the science, field techniques, tools, and cultural aspects of archaeology from professional archaeologist Mandy Ranslow. Participants will be part of a real archaeological field crew, doing hands-on fieldwork at a genuine, ongoing historic house excavation at UConn. Findings at the site add important information to our understanding of Connecticut’s rich historic past.

After the field workshop, visit the Connecticut Archaeology Fair being held in the Wilbur Cross Building, South Reading Room, 10 am - 4 pm.

The program fee is $20, $15 for Museum members, which includes a materials fee. Advance registration is required. This program is for adults and children ages 10 and above. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For further information visit http://www.cac.uconn.edu/mnhcurrentcalendar.html or call 860.486.4460.
