    CETL Workshop

Providing an opportunity for faculty, graduate students, and professional staff to gather with colleagues to listen, discuss, comment, interact and reflect on a variety of topics to enhance teaching and learning.

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning offers the following workshop:

Active Learning Strategies for Engaging American Students
While language and culture differences can affect teaching effectiveness, teaching methods can have an even greater impact. Active learning has been shown to enhance learning in many ways over traditional teacher-centered lecturing. By engaging students in their courses, instructors can create more significant (and thus memorable) experiences and at the same time constantly gauge what parts of the material students are learning well and what needs more work. Also, more and more American students are coming from an educational background based on active learning and expect it from their college instructors. This session will demonstrate and discuss simple active learning strategies that can fit any course (lecture, discussion section, lab, etc.) or syllabus.

    Tuesday, September 27th
