    About the Speaker

    Dr.Rafael Ballester Arnal was born in 1966 in the city of Valencia (Spain). He finished his Bachelor's Degree in 1989 obtaining the Extraordinary Award. He received two research grants through which he achieved the Doctor Degree in 1992 at the University of Valencia. He was hired the same year as assistant professor at the University Jaume I of Castellón (Spain) until 1998, when he became Full Professor of Clinical Health Psychology. His teaching has focused on this area and he has obtained the award for the quality of teaching at his university and other distinctions as best teacher. Since 1998 he is director of the research group "Health Psychology: Prevention and Treatment" and director of the Research Unit on Sexuality and AIDS (Unisexsida). This is a health center dedicated to sexual health promotion for the university community. His scientific interest is mainly directed towards the promotion of health and more specifically in the field of sexual health, with more than 30 funded research projects, 20 books, 100 papers published in prestigious journals such as "Aids and Behavior", "Journal of Health Psychology "," Journal of Community Health "or" Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy" and 250 contributions to international conferences. Many of these studies focus on topics such as sexual behavior of adolescents and youth, sexual prevention of HIV infection, homosexuality and homophobia, male sex workers, sexual compulsivity and sex and cybersex addiction. Finally, he has also held various positions of university management. He served for three years as Vice Dean of his faculty and since 2013 he is the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences including the degrees of Medicine, Nursery and Psychology.
