  • 8/23 Final SVSF Tuesday Tour for Summer 2016

    UConn Spring Valley Student Farm

Last chance for a Tuesday Tour at Spring Valley Student Farm (SVSF) this summer!

Come visit UConn’s own student farm on Tuesday, August 23 from 3-8 PM to see the diversity of sustainably grown vegetables, herbs, flowers and small fruits. Enjoy the beauty of the summer evening in the Willimantic River valley while taking a student-led tour of the fields, greenhouses and edible forest garden. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the on-going Aquaponic IDEA grant and Solar Thermal projects. The tours are open to all.

Feel free to join us on Tuesday, August 23 for some hands-on learning with plants and soil.  No previous experience necessary! We provide the tools, techniques and opportunity to explore the fascinating world of healthy food production. Remember to dress for outdoor conditions.

SVSF produce is served at Chuck and Augie’s restaurant and One Plate Two Plates in the Student Union and at select dining halls. SVSF produce is available for purchase at the Farm Fresh Market located in the garden directly behind the William Benton Museum of Art. The fall market begins Friday, September 2, 2016 and runs through Friday, September 30, 2016. Market hours are 11:30-1:30.
