    UConn Spring Valley Student Farm

Growing a garden at home or in a community space? Have questions about how to make your garden healthier or more productive?

Then come visit UConn’s own Spring Valley Student Farm (SVSF) on Tuesday, August 9 from 3-8 PM. You can see the diversity of sustainably grown vegetables, herbs, flowers and small fruits at SVSF and learn about ways to improve your own gardening adventures.

The students living and working at SVSF will lead guided tours of the fields, greenhouses and edible forest garden. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the on-going Aquaponic IDEA grant and Solar Thermal projects. The tours are open to all.

Save the Date! Interested in welcoming more butterflies and other pollinators into to your yard? Special Pollinator Workshop at SVSF on Tuesday, August 16 from 5:30-7:00 PM. More details coming soon or email Julia for more information!

Feel free to join us any Tuesday through August 23 for some hands-on learning with plants and soil.  No previous experience necessary! We provide the tools, techniques and opportunity to explore the fascinating world of healthy food production. Remember to dress for outdoor conditions.

SVSF produce is served at Chuck and Augie’s restaurant and One Plate Two Plates in the Student Union and at select dining halls. It is available for purchase at the Farm Fresh Market located in the garden directly behind the William Benton Museum of Art every Thursday from 11:30 to 1:30 May through August.
