Additional UConn Information

  • ISSS Offers Walk-In Advising

International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) has made some important updates to advising services, impacting how we assist your international students and scholars. International advisors at ISSS still serve as contacts for specific UConn departments/schools and programs, and you may continue to contact the designated advisor for your program with any questions. Please refer to our website's staff directory to find out which advisor is assigned to your program.

    New Changes to ISSS Advising:

Walk-In Advising Hours: Students and visiting scholars are no longer required to take appointments with the international advisor assigned to their program. Instead, they can come to ISSS during daily walk-in hours, and meet with an available ISSS advisor to discuss any questions they are having related to their international status. Walk in hours are Monday and Friday, 1 - 3:30 pm, and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 to 11:30 am.

Regional Campus Advising: ISSS advisors will continue to travel regularly to the UConn regional campuses. This advising will also be done on a "Walk-In" basis during designated times. ISSS will post the regional campus advising dates on the UConn calendar and on our website.

Student/Scholar Immigration Applications: International advisors now share processing of immigration related applications (e.g. OPT, CPT, Reduced Course Load permission, extensions) for international students and scholars from all programs and campuses, instead of their assigned programs only. This means that various ISSS advisors may contact you if we need further information when processing a case.

We hope that these changes will help international students and scholars to have better access to international advisors for assistance!
