  • New Associate Director in Residential Life

    We are very pleased to announce that Charles Holmes-Hope has accepted the position of Associate Director of Residence Education. Charles will begin with us on July 22, 2016. We are excited to work with such an enthusiastic and accomplished professional and confident that he will add a lot to our growing and changing program. An official announcement will be posted in the Daily Digest next week.

    In case you did not meet Charles when he interviewed, we are including below information about him. Charles is an experienced supervisor, presenter, facilitator and leader.  As a member of the Residential Life leadership team, Charles will work most directly with the staff of the Residence Education Unit which includes 32 professional staff, 12 graduate assistants, and 310 Resident Assistant. 

    Charles joins the UConn staff after serving as the Assistant Director of Residential Life Staff Development at Northern Illinois University. In this position he supervised professional staff and responsible for diversity training and multicultural programs.  He was also involved in the residential curriculum and careers in housing initiative program.  His prior experience includes roles at Kent State University and University of Utah.

    Charles is current involvement includes serving on the NAPSA IV East and West Regional Joint Conference Committees, NASPA IV East Strategic Regional Goals and NASPA IV East Region Knowledge Community Coordinator. For ACUHO I, he is the Chair of the Multicultural Affairs Network and committee member for the Level of Engagement Implementation Task Force, Public Policy Advisory Committee and Profession Standards Committee.

    When asked about the role at UConn, Charles stated:

    I am very excited and honored to join the UCONN’s Residential Life Team that values student success and excellence which was evident during my campus interview.  Without a doubt, I am looking forward to contributing to the Residential Life Team to reach it goals for the upcoming year and beyond, capitalizing on the residential student experience and becoming a proud new Husky! 

    We would like to express thanks to Elsie Gonzalez, Search Committee Chair, and the entire Committee Angela Rola, Rob Drago, Devon Walker and Aris Ristau for the many hours of dedicated service to the university as they help to recruit an accomplished professional to the Department of Residential Life.
