Tuesday Tours at UConn Spring Valley Student Farm!
You are invited to visit UConn’s own Spring Valley Student Farm (SVSF) on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 3 PM to 8 PM. The students living and working at SVSF will lead guided tours of the fields, greenhouses and edible forest garden where they cultivate a wide variety of sustainably grown vegetables, herbs, edible flowers and small fruits. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the on-going Aquaponic IDEA grant and Solar Thermal projects. The tours are open to all.
Would you like to roll up your sleeves and play in the soil? Would you like to learn about food production using organic methods? Then join us on Tuesdays for some hands-on fun with plants and soil. No previous experience necessary! We provide the tools, techniques and opportunity to explore the fascinating world of healthy food production. Remember to dress for outdoor conditions.
SVSF produce is served at Chuck and Augie’s restaurant and One Plate Two Plates in the Student Union and at select dining halls. It is available for purchase at the Farm Fresh Market located in the garden directly behind the William Benton Museum of Art every Thursday from 11:30 to 1:30 May through August.
