    James Porter received his BS and PhD from Yale University. He is currently the Meigs Professor of Ecology in the Odum School of Ecology at the University of Georgia. Dr. Porter is a marine ecologist specializing in the biology and ecology of Floridian and Caribbean coral reefs, and is a mixed-gas and saturation-certified SCUBA diver logging more than 5,000 research dives. In 2005 he received the Environmental Educator of the Year award from the Ecology Society of America. Dr. Porter has testified on climate change issues before the US Congress five times and twice at the United Nations. His award-winning photographs have appeared in Life Magazine and the New York Times. His work has been featured on ABC World News, NBC Nightly News, News, CNN News and the CBS Evening News.
