Sonjoy Dutta-Roy has directed several Indian plays both in English and Bengali. Notable productions include Girish Karnad’s Hayavadana, Mahesh Dattani’s Tara, Mahesh Elkunchwar’s Autobiography, Mohan Rakesh’s One Day in Ashadha, Rabindranath Tagore’s Dak Ghar among others. He has been a Senior Fulbright Fellow at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge and a Fulbright Visiting Professor at UC Berkeley. His work on Yeats and Eliot has been published in Yeats Eliot Review (Arkansas) and Journal of Modern Literature (Philadelphia). And his book on Tagore, Whitman, Yeats, and Eliot came out from Pencraft International, New Delhi. He is currently working on narrative folk traditions and story-telling rituals from India and beyond, focusing on performativity, aestheticism, and political rhetoric. His pedagogical and research interests include Postcolonial Studies, Postcolonial Indian Novel, World Literature, Literature in translation, India narrative traditions: traditional and modernity, Indian Poetry in English, and Commonwealth and Indian Theatre.
