    Research Assistant Position:

I am seeking an individual to assist with an IRB approved research study evaluating a methadone assisted treatment program located at York Correctional Institute located in Niantic, Connecticut. This is a womens' facility. Responsibilities include regular trips to the facility and data entry from medical records.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS are (1) ability and willingess to drive to Niantic 1 day per week -- (8 hours at the facility and an additional 1 hour travel each way from Storrs), (2) careful attention to detail, and (3) familiarity with Microsoft Excel. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: nursing, pharmacy, or allied health educational background.

The research assistant must complete CITI human subjects certification, be able to pass a criminal background check, and complete an orientation program at the facility. You will not interact directly with inmates or work in areas where inmates are permitted to enter. This is a good opportunity to learn about an underserved / health disparity population and gain experience in substance use treatment research. A stipend of $10/hour for work performed at the facility plus mileage will be provided. Persons who accept this position will be asked to start the certification / background check / orientation process in March and be available to work as of May 8th.

For consideration, please provide a resume or CV with 3 references (with emails and phone numbers). Email your materials to william.barta@uconn.edu.
