  • 3/3 Teale: Comedy, Economics, and Climate Change

Dr. Yoram Bauman, Author, "stand-up economist," and carbon tax activist will give a talk entitled “Comedy, Economics, and Climate Change” for the University of Connecticut’s Edwin Way Teale Lecture Series on Nature and the Environment. The talk will take place on March 3, 4 pm at the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center, Konover Auditorium, at UConn. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Dr. Bauman is an environmental economist and "stand-up economist" who co-authored Tax Shift with Alan Durning of Sightline Institute, which helped inspire the revenue-neutral carbon tax in British Columbia. He also co-authored The Cartoon Introduction to Climate Change and the two-volume Cartoon Introduction to Economics with Grady Klein. His talk will blend jokes about economics and politics with news from the carbon pricing front, especially the CarbonWA.org revenue-neutral carbon tax campaign that is heading for the ballot in Washington State.

The Edwin Way Teale Lecture Series brings leading scholars and scientists to the University of Connecticut to present public lectures on nature and the environment. The lectures are open to the public and do not require registration. For additional information please call 860.486.4460 or visit http://doddcenter.uconn.edu/asc/events/teale/teale.htm.
