  • 3/28 NRHH St. Baldrick's Fundraiser

    Dear University of Connecticut,

I need your help! Have you heard of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation? It’s a volunteer-driven organization that raises money for childhood cancer research through head shaving events. That’s right, volunteers shave their heads and ask for pledges of financial support from their friends and family. Well, guess what? I’ve joined them!

I’m making a bald statement by shaving my head at Student Union on March 28th and I want YOU to join me!

Why, you ask? When we shave our heads, we do this in solidarity with kids who typically lose their hair during treatment so that they know that they’re not alone.

Here are some things you ought to know:

    • 175,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year worldwide, that’s 1 child every 3 minutes.

    • Since 2000, St. Baldrick’s has hosted more than 9,700 head-shaving events worldwide, shaving over 400,000 heads

    • Thanks to the St. Baldrick’s donors, over $178 million has been provided to doctors and scientists pursuing the most promising new cures for childhood cancer

So what do you say? Are you willing to Brave the Shave with me? You can sign up today at www.stbaldricks.org/be-a-shavee.

If shaving isn’t for you, consider volunteering. Extra hands are always appreciated. Plus, this way I know you’ll be there in person to watch my shave! Sign up at www.stbaldricks.org/be-a-shavee.
