Additional UConn Information

  • CSD Exam Administration Changes

    The Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD) has expanded MyAccess. MyAccess is the online system through which students register with the CSD. MyAccess is now available to instructors with several functions to coordinate approved academic accommodations for students with disabilities.  MyAccess is a secure website managed by SAIT. Students cannot access or see the same information as instructors. NetID and password are required to login.

    In MyAccess, Instructors Can:

    • Access a list of students who are approved for accommodations with their individualized accommodation letters enrolled in your courses;

    • See a list of students taking exams at the CSD for each course, including accommodations students will be using and when the exam is scheduled to be taken at the Center;

    • Set exam preferences for each test, quiz or final exam including:

      • Materials allowed during the exam;

      • Instructor contact info during the exam (cell phone, email);

      • Class date and length of time for exam as provided by student;

      • Upload exam(s) to be taken by students at the Center;

        • If there are multiple students in the class and/or multiple versions of an exam, instructors may assign specific exams to specific students;

      • Download completed exams once students finish taking their tests.

    Students approved for exam/quiz accommodations should speak with their instructors to determine how approved accommodations will be coordinated. Students should take their tests with their classes and/or instructor/TA whenever possible to ensure equal opportunity to have questions addressed during the exams.

    For students who are approved for exam accommodations and their instructors cannot administer the test either in class or within an alternate setting with the approved accommodations, exams may be administered by the CSD.

    NEW Exam Administration Procedures through MyAccess:

    The new online exam administration procedures through MyAccess will replace the paper-based Exam Administration Forms for those exams to be proctored at the CSD.

    1. Students should discuss their approved exam accommodations with their instructors to determine where tests will be taken with the approved accommodations (e.g., in class, instructor’s office, testing center, at the CSD).

    2. Students should submit an online exam administration request for each quiz or exam to be administered and proctored by the CSD. The online exam administration system is available via students’ MyAccess account on the CSD website at http://csd.uconn.edu (right hand side of home page, click student button). NetID and password required for login. For those students who prefer to use a paper form, the paper-based Exam Administration Form is available at http://csd.uconn.edu/exam-administration-form/. The paper form will require a signature from both the faculty and student, and must be submitted at least 3 business days in advance to the CSD office in Wilbur Cross, room 204.

    3. Once the online exam administration request is submitted, the student will receive a confirmation e-mail from CSD-Exams stating the request was received. And, instructors will receive an e-mail from CSD-Exams requesting information regarding the administration of the exam.

    4. Instructors will need to login into MyAccess (NetID and password required) to confirm and provide information (e.g., date, time, length of time given for exam, etc.) regarding the exam in order for the assessment to be administered and proctored at the Center. MyAccess can be accessed from the CSD website at http://csd.uconn.edu (right hand side of home page, click Instructor button).

    5. Once instructors confirm the details of an exam, the CSD will reserve a spot for the student to take the test. It is the policy of the CSD for students to take their tests on the same day and at the same time as the class unless there is a conflict that would not allow the student to receive approved accommodations or the CSD office is closed. The CSD is open from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday only.

    6. Students will receive a confirmation e-mail from CSD-Exams once the exam has been scheduled.

    7. Instructors will receive a reminder e-mail from CSD-Exams to securely upload exams to MyAccess in preparation for students to take the test at the Center;

    8. Instructors should confidentially upload their exams to MyAccess. The CSD exam team will download the test the day before the exam is to be administered and secure the exam until the student checks-in to take it. Exams may also be delivered in a sealed security envelope by the faculty, department designee (e.g., TA) or student to CSD’s Accommodations Coordinator.

    9. Once the student has taken the exam, the completed test will be uploaded to MyAccess for the instructor to access and download. The CSD can no longer store completed exams. All exams will be returned to instructors. Completed exams can be picked up by the faculty or department designee, or delivered to instructors by the student in a sealed security envelope.

    *Online requests for the administration of exams must be requested by students via MyAccess at least 3 business days in advance of the quiz or exam (7 days in advance for final exams) in order to ensure sufficient time to provide accommodations. Failure to provide adequate notice and/or incomplete information may result in the accommodations not being available.
