Brazilian Ambassador Fernando de Mello Barreto will speak on "Brazil and the World" on Wednesday, September 30, at 2:30 pm in the Wood Hall Lounge (basement).
Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Mello Barreto graduated from the University of São Paulo’s Law School in 1972, and obtained a master of laws from Columbia Uni-versity in 1974. After practicing law in São Paulo and New York he worked in several positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including as the minister's chief of staff. He has had eight diplomatic postings to countries in North America, Europe, and the Pacific, and he has been consul-general in Boston since 2010.
