    Dodd Center Konover Auditorium

The United States has a complex, intractable, and long-term relationship with the Middle East and the various countries in the region. The University of Connecticut’s Leadership Legacy Experience is pleased to host policy expert Aaron David Miller to examine how the U.S. has been involved with the Middle East in the past, how they are currently intertwined, and what the future holds for the relationship and its impact worldwide. By examining U.S./Middle East relations from a historical, contemporary, and futuristic viewpoint UConn students and community members have the opportunity to arrive at a new understanding of what role leadership can take in navigating this relationship moving forward.

Aaron David Miller is currently the Vice-President for New Initiatives and a Distinguished Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, DC. For two decades he served in the Department of State as an analyst, negotiator and adviser on Middle Eastern issues to Republican and Democratic Secretaries of State. Between 2003 and 2006, he also served as president of Seeds of Peace, an internationally recognized program in conflict resolution and coexistence.  He has written five books, including his most recent, The End of Greatness: Why America Can’t Have (and Doesn’t Want) Another Great President. His articles have appeared in the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times; and his column “Reality Check” appears weekly in Foreign Policy Magazine. He is a frequent commentator on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, and NPR.

Admission to this event is free.  All members of the community are welcome to attend.
