  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

National Suicide Prevention Week: September 7-13, 2015

You can be the life-saving difference for a troubled co-worker, friend or loved one. You needn’t be an expert in behavioral health to be familiar with the risk factors, recognize them in someone and voice your concern. Research has shown that if you speak up you will not be planting any ideas in someone’s mind, if they are not already there. Remaining silent despite your concern could prove needlessly tragic.

If you or someone you know may be in acute danger, call 911.

Resources are available nation-wide to help you become better informed:

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention: www.afsp.org

If you have concerns currently about yourself or another, and want to talk:

UConn EAP (Faculty, staff & graduate assistants): www.hr.uconn.edu/employee_assistance.html
