  • 9/4 UConn Volleyball Dog Pound Challenge

The UConn Volleyball team is hosting its inaurgural Dog Pound Challenge tournament this Friday and Saturday, September 4th and 5th. They have invited three other teams with dog mascots – the Bryant Bulldogs, James Madison Dukes, and UMBC Retrievers. UConn plays at 12:30pm and 7:30pm on Friday and 1:00pm on Saturday. Admission is free for all matches!

Besides volleyball our main goal for the weekend is to raise animal awareness. We will be promoting animal wellness during the whole tournament and the Bloomfield Animal Hospital, Colchester Veterinary Hospital, and Norther Veterinary Clinic will be on-site for a rabies vaccination clinic. Fans can bring their leashed dogs and cats in carriers to the Jonathan Statue right outside of Gampel Pavilion following our last match from 2-5pm on Saturday, September 5th. As part of the tournament they are offering the vaccinations for only $10.

In conjunction with the tournament the Sigma Alpha Sorority in the Department of Animal Science is raising money to benefit local animal rescues. They have already made a huge impact but can use even more help. For more information and to make a donation please visit www.gofundme.com/eashelter.

Admission is free the entire weekend so we hope you can make it out to Gampel Pavilion!

    Go Huskies!
