  • 9/3 Marching Band Goes Electric.

In honor of the naming of the Pratt and Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field, the University of Connecticut Marching Band has commissioned a brand new and unique piece of music from composer Joseph Hedges. Like the Pratt and Whitney Corporation itself, this piece is one of a kind. It unites solo electric violin with the marching band! Written for UConn’s own professor and WORLD REKNOWN violinist SOLOMIYA IVAKHIV, this piece is inspired by the Pratt and Whitney jet engine. The title, “SPIRAL”, relates to the beautiful spiral shapes of the fans in the jet turbine, the piece expresses in music the speed, energy, power, and dynamics of the world’s best--Pratt and Whitney--jet engines!
