  • OVPR Spotlight: UConn Tech Helps Startup Grow

Vestaron Corporation, a biotech startup founded on UConn-developed technology, has been named one of Bioscience Technology magazine’s "Five Biotech Startups to Watch in 2015."

Vestaron is based on the work of Dr. Glenn King, formerly at UConn’s Department of Molecular, Microbial and Structural Biology. Dr. King’s research focused on the use of spider venoms as a source of natural insect toxins. The company is currently working on a series of eco-friendly products for the agriculture industry.

The company, now based in Michigan, has had several recent successes in addition to the recognition from Bioscience Technology. After EPA approval for their insecticide, Vestaron successfully closed its third funding round led by Cultivian Sandbox Ventures, a firm that specializes in food and agriculture companies.
