  • 8/13 Concert On The Lawn @ SCC: Beck 'n Call, A-A Doane

    Enjoy a wonderful evening on the Great Lawn at Storrs Congregational Church UCC, take in some wonderful music, and help support a local good cause... all at the same time!

    The annual summer Concerts on the Lawn series at Storrs Congregational Church UCC features the Dunham Memorial Carillon (tower bells) housed in the church steeple as well as a variety of local and touring music artists.  The proceeds from each concert's free-will donations will go to benefit a local service-mission agency.

    Thursday, August 13 at 6:00 pm:  The opening performance on August 13 will feature Beck ‘n Call, a bluegrass/Gospel group, formed under the leadership of David Hagan, that plays eclectic Americana including bluegrass, folk, blues, Gospel, and retro pop.  Then, on the Dunham Carillon, we'll feature guest carillonneur Andree-Anne Doane, who is carillonneur at Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royale in Montreal, and who has performed numerous recitals in Montreal, made recordings for radio and television, and recorded under the SNE Label.

    August 13th's concert will support the the Holy Family Home and Shelter in Willimantic, a 28 bed home and shelter for mothers and children, who meet certain criteria. Residents are provided with 3 meals a day, life skills workshops, case management, laundry facilities, an education program for children, and other assistance.

    Other details:  The outdoor concerts are free of charge and open to the public.  Seating is on the lawn of the Storrs Congregational Church UCC at 2 North Eagleville Road, adjacent to the University of Connecticut’s main campus in Storrs.  Bring along a picnic dinner and dessert, lawn chairs, and blankets to enjoy the music. And invite your family and friends too!

    The Storrs Congregational Church UCC is part of UConn's 'Area Association of Religious Communities' (AARC), the recognized roundtable group of religious organizations that serve the University community.
