  • Faculty Consulting

The Policy on Consulting for Faculty and Members of the Faculty Bargaining Unit requires faculty to submit consulting requests for activities that (1) provide remuneration directly to the faculty member, (2) relate to the faculty member’s professional expertise, and (3) do not relate to the faculty member’s state position. To comply with the policy, faculty members must submit consulting a request for each applicable activity during the fiscal year (July 1 – June 30); activities that cross fiscal years require separate requests for each fiscal year. Faculty members must also reconcile consulting requests by September 15 after the close of each fiscal year.

In March, 2015, the Board of Trustees approved revisions to the policy, requiring faculty members to submit consulting requests when performing work – either paid or unpaid – for a faculty-affiliated company. This revision protects faculty against inadvertent violations of the State Code of Ethics.
