  • OVPR Spotlight: Childhood Obesity & Bullying Study

The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) would like to recognize Dr. Rebecca Puhl, Deputy Director of the UConn Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity, who was recently featured in the New York Times blog, amongst other national media outlets. Dr. Puhl’s study published in Pediatric Obesity, “Cross-national perspectives about weight-based bullying in youth: nature, extent and remedies,” concludes that being “fat” is the most common reason children are bullied.

The OVPR commends Dr. Puhl for this important research, which could have implications for local, state and national anti-bullying and discrimination policy.
